ASPCA Press Release

The ASPCA today applauded NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s strong and decisive action in suspending Michael Vick without pay, effective immediately, from the League. Vick will be appearing in a federal court in Richmond, Va., on Monday to file his plea agreement in the federal dog fighting case against him.

Said ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres, “Right from the outset, we knew the Commissioner was taking this case extremely seriously—and respected the fact that he was proceeding appropriately by commissioning an independent investigation into the case.”

In a strongly worded letter to Vick, the Commissioner today called his admitted conduct “not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible.”

“The Commissioner’s extremely strong and swift response today to Michael Vick’s guilty plea is no less than what we expected, and reinforces how seriously he takes not just the integrity of the League, but his expectations of how animals should be treated in a humane society. The ASPCA is proud to be associated with the National Football League as its animal welfare partner, and we will continue to raise public awareness on the humane treatment of animals together.”

Pugley got a baby sister today! Her name is Elizabeth and she is around a year old. My cousin got her for her daughter, but then they decided they couldnt take care of her. So they called me! I'm so excited! The house is full of Puggie snorts! I love it!!! My digital camera is with my ex, so I dont have pictures :( But I'll try to get it from him or get a new one soon! She is quite a bit fatter than Pugley. And she has the CUTEST underbite and snaggle tooth. Those of you that dont know...I absolutely LOVE underbites on dogs. Its my favorite. Pugley is so excited! She is housebroke and alot calmer than Pugley. I hope she rubs off on him ;-)

Its so good to be back in the blogging world! Haha. I'm going to work on getting some pics of Pugley and our new home, and our new "family". Christian is doing very well. He is adjusting to the divorce extremely maturely. Pugley too. But Pugley is having to re-learn how to be house trained. He spent a month at my previous house with my ex husband while I was getting things situated. My ex didnt take very good care of him. But he has been back with me where he belongs since February/Marchish. He's getting better, and we're making progress. Christian had a little trouble "grade wise" getting into the swing of things at his new school. They were a few chapters ahead of his old school in Math, so it was a struggle for awhile. But he is so very smart, and doing wonderfully. Thanks for your concerns, and I promise you that I'm doing great and I'm happier than I've ever been. This was a much needed change for us all.

Wow it has been a LONG time! Lots has changed in our lives. My husband and I got a divorce. Its ok, it was for the best, and I'm doing really really good. It has been pretty civil. Things are starting to slow down for me again, so I wanted to get back in touch with everyone.

Well today I'm another year older. The big 2! Haha! And its all snowy outside. I had to walk out in it this morning and I didnt like it. We got almost a foot of snow lastnight.

Mommy promised me, next time I got out, I get to wear my coat. Haha. Brrrr its cold in that snow.

Guess its my turn for the broken bone! I slipped on water my son left on the bathroom floor after a shower. My foot slid and got wedged between the bottom of the door and the floor. I see my Orthopedic Surgeon on Monday to learn details. I'll keep ya posted. Right now I'm just in this boot. But they'll put me in a cast on Monday.

This post is a tribute to Syd Barrett. One of the founders of Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd, in my opinion, is one of the greatest Rock & Roll bands of all time...

Pink Floyd's Barrett dies aged 60
Syd Barrett, one of the original members of legendary rock group Pink Floyd, has died at the age of 60 from complications arising from diabetes.
The guitarist was the band's first creative force and an influential songwriter, penning their early hits.
He joined Pink Floyd in 1965 but left three years later after one album. He went on to live as a recluse, with his mental deterioration blamed on drugs.
"He died very peacefully a couple of days ago," the band's spokeswoman said.
"There will be a private family funeral."
He was the first guy I'd heard to sing pop or rock with a British accent - his impact on my thinking was enormous David Bowie
A statement from Pink Floyd said: "The band are naturally very upset and sad to learn of Syd Barrett's death.
"Syd was the guiding light of the early band line-up and leaves a legacy which continues to inspire."
David Bowie described Barrett as a "major inspiration", saying: "I can't tell you how sad I feel.
"The few times I saw him perform in London at UFO and the Marquee clubs during the '60s will forever be etched in my mind.

Barrett's biographer Tim Willis said the guitarist's music left a lasting legacy.
"I don't think we would have the David Bowie we have today if it wasn't for Syd," he told BBC Radio Five Live.
"Bowie was very much a kind of clone of Syd in the early years. His influence is still going.
"New bands discover him all the time. There's always a Syd revival going on - if it wasn't the punks, it was REM, and I'm sure that Arnold Layne and Emily Play as pop songs will live forever."

OK first of all...Emma Grace is one of the most beautiful baby girls I have ever seen! Congrats to Alfreds Mom on the healthy delivery of her first baby!

2ndly...I have had an insane two weeks! I know that I've been saying that a lot lately. But man seriously, its been a little stressful adjusting to my promotion at work. I mean don't get me wrong...I LOVE IT, but wow the responsibility lol.
I had to drive 11 hours on Thursday, to attend a 4 hour meeting. I woke up at 3:30am and didn't get home until like 10pm that night. Bleh, that sucked lol. But I learned a lot and I only have to do it like every 3-4 months ( I think ).

3rdly...I love 4th of July, but Pugley DOES NOT! lol Anyone else have scaredy pugs? Oh man he's been whining for days now. My stupid neighborhood have been setting them off since Monday! Its insane!

4th...Baxterman we are praying for ya and sending good thoughts/vibes your way fellow puggy. Please let us know when you get your blood work in.

5th...Pugpossessed, I hope you guys have a great time at your campsite! Sounds like a good time!

Wow! So sorry for the long time in between posts. Things have been soooooo busy lately. My son got his cast off a few weeks ago. YAY! And has been going to physical therapy 2-3 times a week. He's on crutches and doing much better.

I have started work again this last week. And I started at my promoted position. So its been a long week.

Pugley is doing better with his rash thing he had awhile back.

I've been checking in on everyone...Pugpossessed I thought about you during your surgery. Alfredsmom, I've been thinking about you and the baby. I've just been too busy to let you know. I'm sorry.

Yearly Checkup!

So yesterday was Pugley's yearly checkup. It went well. He got his yearly shots, and his flea/tick medicine, heartworm medicine, and some medicine for that spot I was telling you about awhile back. It started to get better, then got bad again. They did a skin scraping and it wasn't anything bad. Just an allergy. Nothing contagious. Thank goodness. So he's got pills for that and a tube of oil that I'm supposed to put on it. See...

Here is a picture of the spot I'm talking about, and this is him getting a treat for being an excellent boy and swallowing his pill perfectly.After a hard day...here he is passed out underneath me at the computer. If only you could hear the snoring coming from him! I was gonna do some video of it, but my husband and son were watching tv real loud, and it would have distracted it. Anyway, we all know what Pug Snoring sounds like!!!

My son is doing ok. We see the doctor on the 16th, and he'll get his body cast taken off and go to a leg cast and crutches. Hopefully. That's the plan anyway.

I'm so bummed out. I don't think I'll be able to attend the Pug Spring Fling in my area. Not with my kid the way he is. I'd take him in his wheel chair, but going "potty" is still an issue, and I'd hate to have to deal with that issue in public. I'd leave him at home with my husband, but I don't want to go alone. The Spring Fling is 3 hours away.

Oh well, there'll be more events I'm sure.

This has got to be like THE WORST picture of a pug...ever LOL! I cannot believe how horrible he looks here. Seriously, nothing was wrong with him! He just got too close to the lense..and made "that" face!

Sorry, I have been way too busy lately to post. My Gram is in ICU, my little one is still in a cast...and that doesn't leave much time for anything else! Plus, this last week marked the 6th Year Anniversary of my mom's death, so I kind of go into a fog that week anyway. I've been checking out everyone else's blogs though. Just haven't had time to update mine. Hopefully that will change soon!

UPDATE:

For some stupid reason, my template got all SCREWED UP. It was fine, then all of a sudden it wasn't. I don't have time to fix it, so I will be currently using boring old blogger template. Bah! So mad! (Stupid me forgot to save a copy of the template I made!)

A Few Pictures

Well, I managed to get a few pictures taken for you guys. My batteries are still low and the camera dies after a few shots, so I tried my best. My son has watched Madagascar like 10 times since he broke his leg. Ugh. It's a cute movie, but after the 3rd time...
But I feel bad for him, so I let him watch it over and over and over. LOL Pugley's leg is looking better. Maybe it was just a "pug allergy" spot. I've been putting his hot spot medicine on it. That seems to be helping.

This is a picture frame I got at a local decor store. The picture inside is Pugley.

This is the best shot I have been able to get of my necklace. It's shiney and small. I'm not having much luck getting a good picture. I'm going to keep trying though. You need to see the detail...it's adorable!
This is a pen that I got at a store on the mall. The dog house is just a "resting" spot. The pen comes out of there. It's super cute!
These are the statues I got at the same store I got my pen.I got the large one first, then teh smaller one when I got my pen. I didn't know where to put the small one yet, so I just stuck him up there with the big one.

Just About Finished

Well the new design is just about finished. I didn't get any sleep lastnight, so I was able to stay up late working on the blog. Pugley is sick now. I dont know what's wrong with him, I'm going to take him to the vet on Tuesday. (The only day that I can get away from my house right now) He has a little spot on his leg that's kind of tough and the hair is falling out a little. I don't know if he's picked up ringworm or what? Because of that, he's been in his crate so that he doesn't give it to us. Well, lastnight he started throwing a huge fit. I go in to check on him and he had pooped diahrrea in the crate. Just that once, so I don't know if he ingested some of the medicine that I put on his spot by licking it? Today he seems fine. Weird. I have so much on my hands right now without having to deal with this. Ugh. Poor Pugley.

My son is feeling a little better. Night time seems tough though. He's a big mover in his sleep, and he can't do that right now so it's rough on him. He wakes up all cranky and mean at 3am LOL! He has an appointment Tuesday with his surgeon. Hopefully we'll get some good news.

I did get a new camera, yay! But it didn't come with a rechargeable battery...hmmm. You'd think if you pay $250+ for a camera it'd have a way to recharge the batteries. Anyways, where I'm going with that is...my batteries died. Too many pictures of my son and Ebay listings. I was going to take a picture of that Pug Necklace I told you all about a while back. Along with the statue, and all the new things I've gotten since then. There's a store on our mall that has a lot of misc dog breed items. I'm addicted! HaHaHa

Well, I better go. We have company coming over to see my son today. Should be fun. He really enjoys company right now! Plus, I think my husband and I are going to sneak away for a few minutes and get some Starbucks and go to the Petstore. My friends that are coming to visit told me she'd keep an eye on things so we could get out of the house for a few. Yippee! I've been in this house a week solid!

OK, so of course yesterday's post was an April Fool's joke. I cannot live with out my snorting little booger! That's what I love about him! LOL That picture of the St Bernard isn't even mine. I got it off yahoo. HaHa Well, things are going to be VERY hectic around here for a while. My little guy (my 7 year old son) broke his leg lastnight. It was his femur (big thigh bone). He broke it completely in half. Had to have surgery and is in a cast from his chest down to his toes! The only thing that is not in a cast is his arms, and head. It's soooo sad. And they have him in a laying down position. The surgeon says he'll be like this for 2-3 months! I don't know what's going to happen with my job. I'm going to have to go in tomorrow and tell them I need 3 months off, or I'm going to have to quit. My son can't even go to the bathroom on his own. Heck, he can't do ANYTHING on his own. The surgeon said its going to be like having a one year old all over again. Please keep us in your thoughts as this is going to be tiring for me and for him. We spent the whole night in the hospital and most of today. I only had about 2 hours of sleep, and I'm worn out! Good new is...Pugley spent almost 24 hours in the house by himself and didn't make a mess. I think he tinkled a little on his bed, but nothing major. I'm so proud of him. I know that was a long time. But there was nothing I could do about it. I wasn't planning on being in the hospital ALL night. I did get a new digital picture and I will post a pic of my little guy in his cast tomorrow. Too tired to mess with pictures today.

It's A Bernie World

Well, I have an announcement to make...It's A Pugley World is no longer. I got a St Bernard puppy yesterday and gave Pugley to a friend. I couldn't handle Pugley's snorting and snotting anymore. I couldn't handle all the pug hair and snoring. And I hated having to clean out that nose wrinkle every day. Pugs are just too much work for me. So I got a new puppy. His name is Bernie. So this blog will be called...It's A Bernie World from now on. I'm so excited he's the cutes thing ever! I will be trading all my pug stuff in for St Bernard stuff. (So let me know if you want my pug stuff) Well, Bernie and I are off to rest on the couch. That knee of mine is still acting up.

Thanks for all the thoughts and words of kindness. I am feeling much better today. Funny thing, (kind of) I went to the hospital Saturday, and my boss went Monday. Well were were talking with a co-worker and my boss jokingly says, "Alisa, it's your turn to go to the hospital. HAHAHA" Just making a joke because she and I had been. (There's only 3 of us at the store) So I wake up this morning and find out that Alisa was in a car accident lastnight!!! She had to go to the hospital. Thankfully she was fine. She had 2nd degree burns on her arms from the air bag, but that is all. And the two children in the back seat were perfectly fine. However it did total her car!!! So I come to work today and I told my boss it's all her fault that Alisa got into the wreck. She was like, "What? Why?" I reminded her what she had said yesterday. She flipped out! HAHA She said, "OMG! You're right I did say that! I'm never saying anything like that again!!!" Alisa is doing just fine, and was at work today. As for her car...

Ouchie

Mommy injured her knee and had to go to the hospital yesterday. It turns out that she cracked her knee cap! Ouch! So she and I have spent the last 2 days laying around. I don't mind though. Also, Friday, mommy got me a new bed! It's huge. She said I deserved a new bed since I'm a big boy now! I haven't stepped foot in my crate in a week now! And I haven't messed up once!
However, the baby gate that we put up for me in the kitchen is why mommy cracked her knee. She was swinging her leg over the top of it, and hit her leg on the oven door handle. She cried. I didn't know what to do. She's feeling better now.

Making Progress

I am happy to announce that Pugley is being weened from his crate. He has spent 3 nights in the house not sleeping his crate. He is however, baby gated into the kitchen for his own protection. We are "electronic" people and have power cords and stuff all over a corner in our living room. I'd hate for him to get into that while we were sleeping. But I put his bed and his toy box in the kitchen and he has slept in there 3 nights in a row without any potty accidents. I'm SOOOO excited. I even left for work yesterday and left him in the kitchen...No potty accidents when I got home! Yippee! I got a promotion at work and starting May, I will be working full time. (I only work part time right now, and have Mondays off) I was thinking to myself...Pugley is going to have to be weened from his crate. There is no way I'm leaving him in his crate for 9 hours while I'm at work, and then turn around and leave him in there for 7-8 more hours while we're all sleeping. TOO MUCH TIME IN THE CRATE! That's close to animal abuse! :) (I know some people have to do that, and I'm not saying your abusing your pet. I understand the need for crates) Having him be in the kitchen was a risk also since my kitchen is part carpet. I don't have any room in the house that doesn't have carpet except for the bathroom. And there is always too much for him to get into in there! He loves those QTips! LOL
Anyway, I wanted to share our Progress with all of our blogging friends! Wish us luck that this potty training will stay this way. He never has problems during the day while we're home/awake. But I was always to scared to try it at night/while we were gone. My whole house has brand new carpet. But thank goodness...he seems to get the idea!

Happy Valentines Everyone! The following pictures are my "sad" attempt at making Pugley into a Valentine~Pug. LOL I was going to make matching booties, but he doesn't much care for things on his feet. So I thought it'd be a waste. Without further ado, here is Pugley's Valentine (Manly?) Necklace!

Here's my Valentine Gift to Pugley. It's a White-Chocolate sucker on a raw-hide stick. When I purchased it, I didn't realize it was white chocolate. But when I opened the package, I was like Wow! That smells good. So I took a little nibble. It was regular ol white chocolate. So I looked it up on the net. Apparently white chocolate isn't poisonous like other chocolate. It'd take 250lbs of White Chocolate to poison a 20lb dog. I didn't know that. I don't think I'll feed it to him regularly though. But it's a nice holiday treat.

On a sad note...Dermot didn't win Best In Show. ::sob:: The poor guy got nervous again when the judge came by to check him out. However, most people don't know that he was once accidentally pinched in this situation. So he got scared again tonight. I think he did an excellent job anyway!!! GO DERMOT!!! You're a winner in our household!

Need Advice

Hey everyone...I need some advice. I'm getting another pug baby in the next month or two. I really want a girl. I was wanting feedback from pug owners, is it better to have 2 males...or a boy and girl?
I do not want to breed...so that's not in the equation. Let me know what you all think.

I don't have a poem but a very broken heart. I cry everyday when I get in my car and see your collar hanging on my mirror. Daunte I am sorry Mommy left you at the vets, I know how you clung to me and you didn't want to be there. I promised to come get you and to be a good boy and you will get a special treat. I am sorry I had to starve you for that awful surgery, how you moaned with hunger. I am sorry that the vet did not save your life. I held you for an hour crying and kissing you and though you were very cold I still hoped you'd come back to me. Mommy can't stand the pain and I miss my grumpy little pug with his silly antics. You were my favorite of all the six puppies your mommy Zoey had. I sat up all night when you caught a cold so you could breathe. I even took you to work and carried you around like a baby. You were my baby, my silly little boy. I miss my wrinkley little boy. I miss seeing you run to the fruit tree and eating the fruit, I miss wiping your face because you were the messiest little boy. I miss your precious face laying on the sofa and I miss how you use to sit in the toy box and not let me touch your toys. I miss our game of tickling your belly and tug of war and most of all I miss my little shoe thief. I will not let anyone touch the dollar you stole and ripped when I tried to get it back. My heart aches for you Daunte, though you were 5 months old you stole my heart. I never felt such a bond and I still can't believe you are gone. It's not the same here with out you my baby. Please come home to Mommy. I pray Mommy Zoey has another special boy like you and I pray that it really is you. You deserved to live. Why I insisted you get neutered is beyond me. I should of left you alone. I want more time with you Daunte, I want to hug and kiss you and love you all over again. I wish my pain and guilt would subside. I will look for you when the time comes and I love you forever. I never want to forget you my precious boy. Daunte, Mommy loves you and sends you hugs and kisses and I'm sorry my baby, Mommy never wanted you to die. I promised to come get you and that's what I intend to do.

Here is a picture of Pugley I took today. I thought it would look really good in black and white...and well, it does! haha I think it's super cute. I wanna print it onto really nice photo paper and frame it. It's a tad dark around his muzzle, I think I'll lighten that up first! :)

Mommy LOVES spoof movies like: Scary Movie (1-2-3), Not Another Teen Movie, etc. Well, she sat down to watch another spoof movie that she hadn't seen before. It's called...My Big Fat Independent Movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385890/)

Pugs & Hermit Crabs

One of our hermit crabs, Gary, died yesterday. Um...well, I think he died a few days before that. We weren't sure if he was dead or molting. I researched it on the net and everybody says the only way to tell if they're dead or molting is to wait for the smell. If there's a smell...it's dead. Well, we got the "smell" yesterday. :( My son is so upset. So what did I do? Went to the petstore and purchased 2 crabs to replace the 1 that died. So we now have 5! Oh well. The good thing is that everything on the internet says that if a crab experiences an injury or "stress" it can take up to 3 months for it to actually die from it. Soooo...it wasn't our fault that he died. Try explaining that to a 7 year old. One that's crying "but we did everything we were supposed to" and "I took really good care of him". I had to explain that some times those things happen. Especially with fish and crabs.

Mommy went to WalMart today for a vacuum belt. She never goes to WalMart because Daddy is really ANTI WalMart. So when she HAD to go for the vacuum belts, she purchased some things for me too. She had to make her "guilty" trip worth while. But in her defense...no where else in town has vacuum belts!

Here I am with my new $.60 toy. I got 2! Hehe...they won't last long, but it's fun for now.
I'm so cute closeup. Zoom zoom in on me! Wow...Mommy just noticed it's time to clip my toenails...Grrr.
LOOKY AT WHAT WALMART HAS!!! Looks like me~hahaha!!! Mommy was sooo excited to find this. She always complains, because she never finds cool PUG stuff like everyone else...ahem...Debbie!!! I was in a very silly mood today. Can you tell?
Mommy's amazed that I haven't completely torn my reindeer apart yet. Usually I tear up my stuffed animals the day I get them. I've been playing more nicely with my reindeer though. He's really fun. Mommy laughs 'cause I just sit and "suck" on the reindeer's antler.
I have to send a shout out to Chloe & Zoey. Thanks in advance for letting us put your picture on Mommy's pattern website. She didn't have any pictures of me in homemade clothes, so she used yours. Your mommy is amazing at making clothes for you girls!

The pug in NY that was missing...was found. He was ok. Skinny and hungry, but not seriously hurt. Thank goodness. I bet his Mommy is very very happy.

Mole....Um???

Wow! The weirdest thing happened today! I was fixing to take Pugley's blankets out of his crate to be washed. And when I looked into his crate...there it was...A TINY TINY MOLE. It was in Pugley's food dish!!! Just running around in circles.

I am stumped! First off, I can't figure out how this "thing" got into my house! And 2nd, I can't figure out how this "thing" ended up in the food dish! UGH! I just rushed the food dish to my husband, saying "get it out...get it out!!!" LOL

I wonder if Pugley brought it in from outside? I'm completely stumped! Ew! Anyway, the little mole was set free in our back yard. Hope it doesn't find its way back into our house again!!!!

Mommy's Doing Better

Mommy and I wanted to let you know that she is doing better. She's still pretty sore, but she's healing. She has been busy crocheting, trying to get some things finished up. Those of you who were winners of the Halloween Costume Contest...Mommy apologizes for the delay in sending your prizes. But they will be sent by the end of the week. (Hopefully sooner :) )

Cross your fingers for us...were supposed to get some snow. We haven't had a real good snow yet. Mommy really wants to see how I'll react to the snow. So she wants it to snow a lot!

Burn Update

Mommy just got back from the doctor. She had to go for her sun burn because it was making her vomit. She found out that she has 2nd degree burns, and sun poisoning. They gave her 4 kinds of medication! Poor Mommy, and she won't let me get near her, because I'm rowdy and jump around. She's scared I'll hurt her. If I completely understood what this "burn" thing was, I wouldn't mean to hurt her. Well, that's all for now, just wanted to give you all an update.

Sun Burn...er Tanning Bed Burn

Feeling Better...Finally

Pugley got a cute "boy scout" type coat for Christmas. Today was the first day since Christmas that it was cold enough to wear it. However, Pugley felt that once inside...it was too hot to wear. Notice how he goes to the air vent...he still thinks that's where to go when he's hot. (From this summer when the air conditioner was on) So I kept him in his coat long enough to take some photos.

Christmas Present from Aunt Nancy!!!

Bow-Wowee!!! We received our presents from Aunt Nancy and Uncle Alan today! Mommy said it was ok if we went ahead and opened them. I LOVE my present! This is my 1st time to celebreate Christmas I was only 24 days old last Christmas. Let me tell you what I think about Christmas...I LOVE IT!!!!

A girl from Mommy's work bought this for her for Christmas...

She loves it! She says she's not lucky enough to find Pug stuff when she's out shopping. The girls at work laugh at her because she has pictures of me in the office right along with my human brother. They say I'm just like one of her kids...well duh!

Well, that's all for now. Mommy's ordered Chinese take out and it should be here soon. She says she doesn't feel like cooking dinner, since she'll be fixing so much stuff for Christmas.

*The daughter (Sophomore in High School) of one of our customers was in a fatal car wreck yesterday. She died along with another of the three girls in the car. The car that they hit (head on....on the highway) had 2 grown men in it. The men were life flighted to a hospital in another town. It is heartbreaking especially this time of year. Please be safe everyone as you travel! Remember that the holidays are about spending time with your loved ones. We never know how long we have with them...so treasure each moment!*

Doggy Day Care Dvd?

Has anyone purchased the doggy day care dvd? It's a video that plays over and over for your dog while you are away. I'm very interested in getting it for Pugley. I'd like some feedback. You can check out the dvd that I'm talking about at... www.doggydaycaredvd.com. Also, has anyone seen the new Kong dispenser? It has 4 Kongs inside and it is programmed to spit out a kong for your dog to play with while you're gone. Really really cool. www.kongtime.com. I'm trying to wheen Pugley from having to stay in his crate for the 5 hrs that I'm at work. But as of right now, I don't trust him to stay out of trouble. I purchased a kong for him for Christmas. Paris had done it again. She has purchased 2 more pint sized pups. Oh my, oh my. And just in time for her "Worst Pet Owner" title from Hollywood Dog & New York Dog magazines.
OK...this is getting a little out of hand!!! Those poor puppies!!!
Everyone...I need you to send your "K9" prayers our way. A friend of mine purchased a lab puppy last Friday. They had him for 4 days, and during that time the puppy wouldn't eat and vomitted regularly. She took him to the vet and "Jax" spent 2 days in the doggy hospital. He died lastnight. We don't know for sure what the cause was. The vet did an autopsy because he was very curious. The dog had tested negative to worms and parvo. However, the vet said that thd pup was full of worms. And that it is possible that he did have parvo. But the sad/frustrating thing is, if the breeder had wormed and vaccinated the pup like she said she had, this wouldn't have happened. There were no vaccination records because the breeder purchases the meds from the vet and does them herself. So we're pretty suspicious that she didn't vaccinate the pup like she said she did. So now my friend who is a first time dog owner...is DEVESTATED...and her little boy (5 years old) is dealing with losing his first pet too. Please keep this family in your thoughts. I'll let you know more as we find out more. They are in such a state of shock right now. As I'm sure you can imagine.

I worked a 16 hr day yesterday and only ended up with 3 hrs of sleep. So it's 11:40pm and I'm fixing to hit~the~hay. I apologize for the short post (and any spelling errors), but I'm exhausted. Have a Pug-Rific Day!!!

Doggy hairball???

So yesterday, I got to experience Pugley's first asthma?/hairball? attack. I've read of this noise that pugs make when they get "choked?". I'm not sure what it was but luckily I was prepared for it. I just rubbed his little throat and talked him through it. But it lasted longer than I expected, which started to scare me! So I stuck my finger in his mouth to make sure he wasn't actually choking on something that I didn't see him eat. But it was just one of those "puggy" attacks. Poor fella, he didn't know what was going on either, and he was a big cuddle bug afterwards. I think it scared him too!

This is a barstool that Chloe & Zoey's mommy sent us for Pugley's birthday!!! Isn't it adorable! She painted it herself! We LOVE IT!!!
She also made Pugley this beautiful blanket! He loves it! We keep it on the floor next to our computer...where I spend a lot of my time! LOL

This is a cookie I purchased from our local doggy bakery! (Inside our petstore) It was big! You can kinda tell how big it is in the next picture. I purchased it for a treat for Pugley for after his bath on Saturday. I think it was like $1.23 or something. Sooo cute! It smelled good too...well, until he started to eat it, then it stunk!
Here's Pugley making a game plan on how to start to chow down on this cookie. It was really funny, because I put it on the linolium at first, but he couldn't pick it up so he just scooted it with his nose all over the place. So it ended up on the carpet. Oh the mess it made...and if you knew me, you'd know that I spazzed a little bit about it. But luckily the vacuum took care of the mess. Pugley chillin' on the couch after his bath and yummy treat.

**Carmen the E-Bay Pug has been placed in a loving home! Just in time for Christmas, the vet who took Carmen from her ~~owner~~ captor gave her to a loving family who will take excellent care of her. I guess she really won the hearts of lots of people at the vet's office. They all said she was amazingly sweet and kind...well of course she was...she's a PUG! So congrats to Carmen and her new family!**

Bah Humbug! Today we purchased the movie...12 Dogs of Christmas and I must say, the cover is VERY misleading! The cover shows a pug right on it...but there is NO PUG in the movie AT ALL! Grrr! I do have to admit that the movie was cute, but we wanted PUG!!! So, don't be fooled by cover-This movie doesn't star a pug, there isn't even a puggy supporting role! Grrr!

New Clothes!!!

OMG!!! Our local rinky-dink Pet store has started carrying quality dog clothing, accessories, gourmet treats, carriers..etc! I'm so excited! They have a good selection and good prices. I was so suprised, when I went in to get Pugley's dog food today. Usually they don't have anything to look at...then BOOM they had tons to look at! And cute Holiday themed stocking stuffers...ooohhh I'm so excited! (Of course...there are larger selections of items on the net. And they don't have designer collars and clothing like www.mypetique.com)

Below is a few pictures I found on the net of the items they had at our pet store. I purchased the Yellow PJ's. I thought Pugley would like to lounge around in them. It was a toss up between the PJ's and the Sweatsuit. But...I will buy the bathrobe soon. Especially since it's getting to be colder. Currently after Pugley's bath, I wrap him up in a blanket and we watch tv. He HATES the blow dryer, or I'd use that on him.

He actually wears the PJ's really well. I like these clothes a lot. They have cut outs around the "potty" areas. This way the dog can go outside and go potty in them without getting anything on their clothes. I wish I had pictures for ya...but once again, my husband left the camera at work. Ugh. Anyway, I told him to be sure to bring it home tonight! I'll take pics of Pugley in his PJ's. AHHH...too cute! And his birthday pictures are still on the camera, so I'll have to download them tonight also, so I can get them on here.

A dog named 'Columbo', a cross-breed between a poodle and a Maltese and dyed to look like a panda, sits on a chair in Tokyo November 30, 2005. The owner dyed the originally white coloured dog, with a special hair dye to cover up stains around its eyes which was conspicuous when he was first found abandoned. As a result, the panda look-alike became the most popular dog in the neighbourhood and the owner said he hopes Columbo's popularity will help rescue other abandoned dogs like Columbo, where in Tokyo last year, 700 of them were put to sleep.

And the Winner Is...

OK all...here is the winner of the November Contest "Why I'm Thankful For My Dog". This dog owner and her "girls" were 3rd place winners last month. I wanted to let someone else win this contest this month...but as you can see, this story is amazing! So when you read it you will see why Chloe's owner wins this month's contest!
I am thankful for my dog Chloe. My mother died unexpectedly on 11/12/00. My son was a senior in high school and my daughter a sophmore, so there was a huge hole in my life. I had seen or spoke with my mother every day. She lived right around the corner from me. I saw these cute little Pug dogs on tv. I was entralled with them and started reading everything I could find on them. We had had a bad experience with our previous dog, a lab, and my hubby said NO MORE DOGS! I begged and pleaded, but no luck.

In October of 2002 I dragged my husband to Pug-O-Ween, he couldn't believe he was in a room full of these little Pug doggies and they were all getting along, loving each other and all the humans. A couple of them came over and sat by us and one jumped in my hubby's lap. He was hooked now too! We asked around about breeders and contacted several of them. One was about 40 minutes from our house, we called and were told to call back around the end of November. When I called back the litter had already been born and all puppies were taken! I was devastated. I chatted with the breeder and told her all about how lonely I was and about my mom. She asked when my mom had died and I told her 11/12....she couldn't believe it...the puppies had been born on 11/12. She told me she was moving my name to the "top" of the waiting list. Well, Christmas came and went and no calls. No pug under my tree!

On January 2 I listened to my phone messages and there was a call from the breeder. The people who were taking the last available puppy had come out to pick her up and changed their minds! The puppy could be mine! I ran through the house yelling, screaming and crying. I took the following day off work and we drove out to see if we wanted her. One look and I was all done! From that day on my life has changed. I joined the group that organized Pug-O-Ween. I have made tremendous friends through all of this. I have met people through our events, Pug Meetups, websites and blogs! I have made great new friends and discovered a lot of us have a commons thread of sadness, yet can have so much hope and happiness too. I have become a huge supporter of pug rescue and met the most caring individuals you could imagine. I have assisted in rescue placements and cried for happiness when things go right!!

My Pug, Chloe opened up a whole crazy new Puggy world for me. She became my best little four-legged friend. I am so thankful for her for allowing me to be her owner. I feel she was sent from above by my mom to give me a reason to be thankful for 11/12...not sad about that date. She has shown me unconditional love. She was with us when we traveled to the hills of Pennsylvania to our second baby, Zoey and in December of this year our third baby will be born! For this I am thankful.

Our honorable mention this month will have a Cage Cozie (pet blanket) donated to our local animal rescue in their dog's name. We wanted to do something that followed with the "Thanksgiving Theme" of the contest. Plus it's the holiday season, and it's getting colder. The shelters all over the U.S. need extra blankets for their animals. So here's the honorable mention...
I'm up at midnight again--watching TV, wasting time online. I've always been a night owl. It used to be a really lonely time for me, but not tonight. Tonight, I've got one dog curled up next to me on the couch and the other snoozing at my feet. Two warm furry bundles of life to keep me company as the night wears on.

And tommorow morning--after Sweet Husband leaves early for work--those same two pups will curl up in bed with me to snuggle for an hour before I have to go to school. And I'll make little Moe's day first thing, just by turning on the shower and letting him play in the water for a few seconds before I get in myself.

I'll come home from lunch, and they'll be happy to see me. Even though I left them alone all morning, they'll be bouncing up and down with excitement before my key even hits the lock. And when I come home in the evening, they'll race to the door to greet me with kisses and wagging tails, even though it means getting up off a comfy couch or Sweet Husband's lap. No matter how bad the day has been, they always make me smile.

Long walks at the dog park...an excuse to make friends with strangers on the street...wet noses...keeping my feet warm...unconditional love day in and day out. The question isn't, "Why am I grateful for my dogs?" The question is, "How could I live without them?"

Congrat's to those two!
Pugley had a good birthday, but the real fun is this weekend at his "party". So you'll see those photo's later this weekend. Unfortunately, little Sophie next door can't come over 'cause she's in heat. And pugley's not fixed yet. So you can see the dilemma there. :) But we'll still have a fun birthday!!!

Well, tomorrow is the big day for Pugley. It's his 1st birthday. (the counter at the top of the page is off a day for some reason?) We're all sick and feeling crappy. Ugh. I hate it when we get those colds that don't want to go away!

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

We put our Christmas tree up this weekend. (Mommy forgot to turn the flash on for this picture) So far, I've left the tree alone. I haven't tried to eat anything on it yet.

Not much going on over here. We're just getting ready for my birthday. It's a bitter sweet day for us. My birthday is the day Mommy's grandma died. So my 1st birthday will mark the 1 year death of Mommy's grandma. Luckily she has me to celebrate so she doesn't get too sad. Here's a picture of Mommy's grandparents...they're both gone now.

The holidays are always hard, for Mommy. She has lost lots and lots of family members over the past 5 years. Luckily she has me and my human brother to keep her spirits high. :) That's what us children are good for.

Birthday, Birthday, Birthday!!!

Oh, everyone...I'm Sooo excited, my Birthday is in a few days! Mommy is really excited too! She's going to the store tomorrow to get the ingredients for my doggy birthday cake!
Did everyone have a great thanksgiving? We did. It was really nice. Mommy even let me have some ham and ham fat! I was in heaven! Yesterday we had an eye scare though. I wouldn't open my right eye, and it was watery and blood shot looking. Mommy immediately freaked out! Daddy opened my eye for me and examined it, he was checking to see if I had scratched it or something. Luckily I hadn't. Mommy gave me my bath and she wiped my eye area 'cause it had a bunch of goo. Then she told me to go sleep in my crate so that I wouldn't be walking around and getting anything into my eye. She kept checking on me though. She said she was scared 'cause she thought I was sick. I was really lethargic and I even POOPED on the floor! I never poo on the floor. Now mommy realizes that I probably just poo'd on the floor 'cause she gave me a bath and let me play in the water a long time, and then she wrapped me up in a towel and blanket and held me like a baby until I fell asleep. Then I slept in her arms a couple of hours. So I didn't have a potty break. She was so worried about me that she forgot to take me outside! But when I woke up the next morning my eye was just fine. Not even blood shot. So I must have just gotten some dirt in it or something. Thank goodness!

Sorry that there's no pictures of me today. Daddy left the camera at work over the holiday weekend. So Mommy wasn't able to take pictures. :( Hopefully he'll remember to bring the camera home tomorrow. Mommy is crocheting me a scarf. She should be done with it by tomorrow eve.

Goodbye to Sweet Sam!

Sam the World's Ugliest Dog passed away on November 18th. He was a Chinese Crested, and had won the World's Ugliest Dog title in 2003, 2004, 2005. His "Mommy" Susie rescued the little guy from local animal shelters. They had deemed him "un-adoptable" Susie took him into her home for a 48hr trial. She said that he spent that time in a cage because he acted like Cujo. Susie had to feed Sam by shoving food and water through the cage. Then the 48hr trial period became days. And one day, Sam just walked out of the cage and became one of their family members. Sam then went on to help Susie through various medical problems. He was her pride and joy.

Carmen the "ebay pug" has been rescued by a local vet there where her ~~owner~~ captor lives. Carmen is receiving the shots that she has been denied, and other medical care. The vet says that Carmen is NOT skiddish and is friendly, unlike the description her ~~owner~~ captor gave. Our friend that we have mentioned before is able to go pick up Carmen on the 2nd!!! So go to sleep tonight knowing that Carmen the "ebay pug" has been rescued and is going to a loving home!!! We are JUMPING FOR JOY over here!!!

Mommy's Birthday, Yesterday

Here's me and my human brother, rough housing around. I can always count on him to play with me. Since he's an only child, I'm all he's got! And he's all I got! (Mommy apologizes for the "bluriness" of this photo, but it was the most in focus one we had! Guess it's hard to get a photo of a couple of goof balls that won't stay still!)

Mommy had a good day for her birthday. We layed around and did absolutely NOTHING! We watched movies on tv, and layed on the couch while Mommy crocheted. Actually, Mommy's back was hurting pretty bad, so she layed on the couch with a heating pad. But she feels much better today. Daddy massaged her back for her. That and the heating pad really helped her.

Mommy received wonderful presents too! Daddy bought her an expensive ribbed micro-chenille blanket. She got a Starbucks gift basket from the girls at her work, it has coffee's and chocolates! Yum. (She won't let me have any) Our Aunt Becky sent her a Red Lobster/Olive Garden gift certificate! She received lots of cards, here's one from Aunt Nancy...

All in all, she had a wonderful Birthday. Boy, I hope mine is as good as hers! I've been told that I get a birthday cake! YUM! (Made especially for dogs of course)

Here's a picture of Pugley's broken claw. Or should I say, non-existant claw! Poor guy! You can kinda see where he had started bleeding again. I've been keeping one of his booties on that foot, so that he doesn't hurt it anymore.
As promised...here's pictures of Pugley's booties. Poor guy! They're so girly looking. Luckily for him, I've decided to give them to our neighbor's girl dog. But I had to show you the pictures of his little house booties.
Here's a close up of them. I'm going to make some that are a little bit more "manly". I think they're a good idea go have at least a pair hanging around the house. Keep his little feetsies warm!

Ok guys, sorry for putting you through that! It sounded like a good idea at the time! LOL Guess I'm not cut out for song writing! Anyway, apparently Paris is in a little bit of trouble because her Monkey friend is illegal in LA. She purchased Baby Luv in Las Vegas and smuggled him/her? over to California. So California authorities are instructing her to turn over her primate pal. Lisa Lange of PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, added: "It seems Paris thinks animals are as disposable as friends and fiancés" HMMM? Do you think she's on to something there? HaHaHa...like we all didn't know that already!?!?!

Well Saturday is my birthday! Yeah! I'm not doing anything special that I know of. But it should be a great day anyway! I plan on finishing Mr Pugley's booties, and taking pictures for you all to see. They are so cute and fashionable! Ha!

Since it's already 11:30pm and way past my bedtime, I'm gonna end this post. Hope you all have a Pug-Rific day, and a super Pug-Rific weekend. There will be pictures of Pugley tomorrow. You have my word! LOL

Oh Paris, Paris, Paris...

Ya'll know that I cannot resist a Paris story. Our lovely heiress has purchased another pet. Yep, another one. This time it's a monkey named Baby Luv. Hmmm...do you think she's getting a little out of hand about this?

Look at poor Tinkerbell. She looks miserable! Can you imagine what must be going through her mind!?!
Funny story: Paris was shopping at the lingerie store "Agent Provocateur" in NY, when Baby Luv went nuts and scratched & bit Paris' face! The poor monkey was then attached to a cabinet by its leash, while Paris purchased her unmentionables.
QUESTION: Does anyone know what has happened to poor Bambi?

Ohhh...I have crocheted Pugley the cutest booties! He wasn't overly thrilled with them at first. But he's getting used to them now. It's too cute! The color is a little girly, but I was home sick yesterday from work, and this yarn was the most neutral I had. Everything else was very girly. I have only done 2, I will post pictures this weekend when I get the other 2 finished. You'll have to see all of them on him! CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!

Well, that's all for today. I want to get busy on the booties, so I can post the pics of them tomorrow. You guys will crack up!

You Too Can Do DOGA

Hello~I'm so glad that you all enjoyed the video of me howling. Mommy thinks it's really funny. When she first brought me home, and was getting me used to my crate...I'd howl like that. It scared her at first since she had never heard a dog make a noise like that before.

Today mommy is going to show you all the Doga that we've been doing. (Dog Yoga) I know I know...it sounds silly, but it's really fun. Mommy wants to buy a book on it. Since we live in a small town in KS, there aren't any Doga Classes around here. So we had to teach ourselves. She has been watching K9 Karma on the Animal Planet. You should watch that show sometime. It's really good. I like watching it with mommy.
Mommy went to the K9 Karma website, and they had instructions and poses for Doga. So we started doing them. We've really been enjoying it.

Downward-Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)This is the pose that started it all. Charlie and Kari began doing yoga together when Charlie would lie underneath Kari as she practiced at home. To start, sit on the floor; then, come onto your hands and knees, placing your knees directly below your hips and your hands slightly forward of your shoulders. Exhale and lift your knees away from the floor. Lift the sitting bones toward the ceiling. Push your top thighs back and stretch your heels onto or down toward the floor. Straighten your knees but don't lock them.

Cobbler's Pose (Baddha Konasana)Start by sitting on the floor, on your sitting bones. Bring the soles of the feet together, heels close in toward the groin. Sit up out of the lower back. Bring the dog inside your legs with its seat on the ground and lift up its front legs so the dog is supported with its back against your front. You can bring the dog's front paws into "prayer position," if your pup seems comfortable and willing.

Extended Side Angle (Utthita Parsvakonasana)Step your right foot forward with the dog on the inside of your right leg. Your left leg is back with toes turned in slightly. Bend the front knee and take the right forearm onto the dog while reaching the left arm up and over the left ear. Press into the back foot and keep the back leg straight. Turn the belly and chest and look up at the ceiling from underneath the left arm. Smaller dogs can be held with the left arm on the left side body or can rest on the right thigh.

Sleeping Visnu (Anantasana)Lying on your side with your hips stacked on top of each other, lift your top leg up and rotate your hip to grab your big toe or calf with the same hand. Stretch your leg up toward your head. (You may want to use a strap around the ball of your foot if you are unable to comfortably hold onto your big toe or calf.) More advanced is to grab your top leg with your bottom hand as shown in the photo. Your dog is on the inside, lying against you, and with your free hand you can give your furry friend a leg stretch as well.

Open Angle Forward Bend (Upavistha Konasana) Sit on your sitting bones; then, straddle the legs and lean forward. Do not force the movement.

A Good Massage Is Relaxing for Pets and Owners
by Kari Harendorf

You love it, so why not treat your best friend to one as well? Massage is a fabulous way to connect to your animal and can become part of a daily ritual for both of you. It can also give you greater awareness of your animal and clue you in on any changes or developments in his or her body before they become serious health issues.

There are many different techniques of massage and because it is not a precise science, you can relax and be confident that you are doing Fido some good. Charlie and I do different massage techniques in class, but I also like to begin and end grooming sessions with massage so my dogs associate pleasure with teeth brushing and ear cleaning, too.

Where to Start
Begin massage at the head and neck area using the flat side of your hand in long sweeping strokes. This will signal to your animal the start of a session and will increase their circulation and body awareness. Work your hand all the way down the spine. You will be stimulating the longest meridian, or energy pathway, of the body. Massage along both sides of the neck, continuing between the shoulder blades and running on either side of the spine all the way down the hind legs and to the base of the tail. Don't forget to continue the massage all the way to the tip of the tail, which is the end of the spine.

Not Too Hard and Not Too Soft
Trust that your dog will tell you what he or she prefers. Usually if a touch is too hard, or they are sensitive in a certain area, the dog will move away from the touch. Respect what your dog is telling you and ease up, or perhaps now is not the time for your pet to be massaged. Conversely, you will know when a touch is too light and you may even experience your dog leaning into you to get more pressure in a certain area.

Ears are a wonderful place to massage on your dog as they have so many pressure points. You want to start at the base of the ear and work toward the tip. You can place the ear between your thumb and index finger and applying a gentle pressure, rub in small circular motions and then slide your fingers down an inch and repeat. This touch is very calming to dogs and I recommend performing it before doing anything that your dog may find anxiety provoking, such as a visit to the vet or traveling.

Pay attention to your own breath as you perform the massage and keep your inhalations and exhalations even, deep and rhythmic. You will also be absorbing the benefits of the massage by lowering your own blood pressure and heart rate.

Let Your Fingers Do the Talking
If your pet has specific physical ailments or behavioral problems, he or she may need more focused fingers. Acupressure is like acupuncture, but using fingers instead of needles. Pressure is applied on the skin's surface along acupoints that are part of the meridians, or energy pathways, along the animal's body. These points also correspond with specific organs and emotions. Acupressure can be the perfect treatment for certain musculoskeletal conditions because it regulates and directs, or redirects, energy flow in the body to help disperse pain and strengthen muscles, bones and organs.

One sweet spot that energizes most dogs is called "stomach 36" and is found on the outside of the back leg just below the knee in the belly of the muscle. You can stimulate this point with gentle pressure using the fingers.

By keeping the energy flowing and balanced, acupressure is also a great way to maintain good health and to prevent disease. Pet acupressure and massage benefit humans as much as animals. The intimate contact and exchange of energy between person and pet is a wonderful way to establish closeness and build trust. Both you and your animal will enjoy a greater sense of well-being and relaxation.

10 Pack A Day Smoker Sound

OK, I have had requests for a video of Pugley doing his "10 Pack A Day Smoker" sound. (That is not a slam at smokers, I smoke every now and then...outside of course, so that it doesn't bug Pugley or my son) Anyway, I hope that the video comes through on your end. If it doesn't and you would really like to hear it, please email us and we will email the video to you. We have 2 videos that we took today, but this one is my favorite, because he holds it for a long time. LOL!

Please ignore the words in the middle of the video. I had to convert the file from avi to windows media. So I just used a demo program off the interenet. That's why that is there. P.S.-I get a little annoying in the video 'cause I'm howling also. But that is the only way I can get him to do it. He'll do it for my husband when he whistles, but I don't whistle as good as my husband. So ignore me also, and enjoy Pugley!

Well, this isn't my home. (Unfortunately! I'd love to have every bit of this stuff!) This is the home of a friend & reader of the blog. She sent me these pictures of her home office. Isn't this amazing! I LOVE it! I must have everything here in her house! LOL I had to share this with you guys!

This is my favorite picture. Can you count how many pugs are in the picture? I can't! Love it, love it, love it! And of course love the babies on the floor.
She made these curtains herself, out of pug fabric. Adorable isn't it!

I don't have any new photos of Pugley for today. He just hasn't been feeling real good since he hurt his foot. Not many good photo ops. Poor baby. He's doing better, but he's not back to normal yet. I am determined to get his crate cozie finished this weekend. Since I started my new job, I haven't had as much free time for crafts, but I refuse to give them up. So it takes me a little longer to get things completed than before. I also found a pattern for booties. Hmm, I wonder if Pugley would wear them? We'll see!

Feel Good

Well I'm starting to feel better. My toe is looking better, and I'm feeling a little more spunky!

Mommy keeps babying me! It's great! See me being all spunky?? I love that blankey! Mommy has shown you pictures of me and my blankey before, but this is a new one. She thought it was cute that since I haven't been feeling good, I've been really attached to my blankey.

Has anyone seen/heard of a Puggle before? In my opinion...they're very strange looking! Puggle=Pug+Beagle! They are purposely bred that way!

"Ebay Pug" Update: The owner has decided he may want to keep the male pug afterall! Ugh! He said that he changes his mind alot, and at the moment he wants to keep the male! Helllooo!!!! This man shouldn't own a pet if one minute he doesn't want it then the next he does! Anyway, a fellow reader has a friend that is willing to go up and get the female, but can only do it on the weekend. He hasn't been very cooperative. This is all a pain in the rear! This man has been very indecisive, wacko, and rude. A fellow reader, her friend, and I are still trying to get these pugs out of this man's ownership. He has repeatedly denied offers from Pug rescues because he wanted a larger amount of money out of the dogs. He doesn't want the dogs...he just wants to make money off of them. And what we're worried about is that he will keep the male and use him strictly as a stud. We will keep you updated.

Injury

Well, I guess it's inevitable. Eventually I would have to go through an injury with Pugley. It's nothing serious, but still upsets me. Yesterday he broke a claw completely off. All the way down to the quick. His little quick is exposed and causing him a lot of pain. I'm not even sure how he did it! We have gooming day every sunday. Every sunday Pugley gets a bath, get's his claws trimmed, gets his little nose roll cleaned out, and I clean his ears. Religiously! I may miss Mass a time or two, but Pugley grooming day is never omitted! Anyway, I know that it happened outside 'cause our back porch has blood everywhere. Pugley was sitting in my husbands lap watching tv, then when Pugley hopped down, my husband noticed blood all over his shirt. He was like, "Pugley's bleeding"...I was like, "WHAT? WHERE? OH MY GOSH...COME HERE BABY!" Just like I do with my son, I go into hysterical mode. I picked Pugley and examined him, noticed it was coming from his foot. So I had my husband help me hold Pugley down, and I saw that his claw was completely gone. I hollered for my son to get me a wet wash cloth. We cleaned him up and held pressure on it until the bleeding stopped. Pugley then layed on me for about an hour. Then it was bed time. I figured getting him into his crate and letting him get all cozied up and getting some rest would be good for him. So then I get up and let him out this morning. He wouldn't even walk on his foot. Even when he sat on the ground, he wouldn't let his foot touch the floor. So I kept an eye on him. Well, every so often, he'd moan. Then he'd whimper. Then he'd moan. I couldn't take it. I had to be at work at 9am and knew I'd be worthless there wondering if my baby was at home crying and hurting. So I called work and told them I was taking him to the vet. The vet cut his fur away from around the area. Then he gave him a shot of antibiotics and two shots of pain medicine. He said that since it was so exposed, there's a chance he could get infected, so it was a good thing that I brought him in. Plus, he was obviously in pain, and I was so glad that they gave him some medicine for that. So then I took Pugley back home, and went on to work. (After asking if there were any side effects that he might have due to the meds. I didn't want to leave him at home if he was going to have side effects. The vet said no. So then I went on to work) Well, I got home 45 minutes ago, and I'm happy to report that he seems to be in better spirits, but he still looks so sad. That's what breaks my heart, is seeing how sad he looks. At least he doesn't look like he's in pain, like this morning. That was aweful! Well, that's all I'm going to do today on the blog. I want to go hang out on the couch with Pugley and comfort him. My son will be home soon, and we'll all just hang out and watch tv. (After homework of course!) Tomorrow I will take pictures and show ya. I just don't want to put him through a photo shoot today.

Cage Cozies

I spent the weekend looking for crochet patterns on the internet. I found one for "cage cozies". It's a really thick pet bed/rug that goes in the bottom of cages or crates. Their main purpose is for donating to rescue shelters. A lot of pets spend time laying in cages after surgery and the kitties mainly stay in the cages. These give them a nice comfortable bed/rug to lay on. Since Pugley sleeps in a crate at night, I'm currently making one for him. He has baby blankets that I put down in the bottom of his...but these looked really comfortable. I can't describe how thick and "cushiony" these are. I'll post a picture of mine when I'm finished. I love to crochet because it's "theraputic"...but there's only so much that you can make before it starts to take over your house and your friends and families! There's only so many pot holders, coasters, afghans (I don't much care for afghans...they take too long & I'm impatient), socks, booties, hats, gloves, magnets, etc. before your house starts to look like the worlds largest ball of yarn! And I'm not overly fond of the look of yarn...so I don't keep any of the above items in my house. Afghans are the exception...they are awesome...but I HATE making them. The dog is another story too. I know he'll love this crate/cage cozy. And it's not technically a part of my household decor! But after I make this one for Pugley...I'm going to start making them and donating them to my local animal shelter. If any of you crochet, you might consider doing the same for your local shelters. Or Pug rescues. (Or whatever rescue group you feel strongly about) By the way...I also found a website that has nothing but pet crochet patterns. I'll put the link to it below.

Cage Cozies
for
Animal Rescue Organizations

One of our local animal rescue organizations are in need of cage cozies. They need animal beds/rugs approximately 18 x 28 inches. The cage cozies need to be washable so acrylic yarns are fine.

Even quicker would be to make them out of polar fleece or fabric with a low loft batting.
Here is the double thick pattern that Jean, one of our volunteers, has created:
Finished size: Approx. 18" wide by 27" longJ hookUsing 2 strands of 4 ply worsted weight yarn, chain 44.Sc (Single Chain) in 2nd ch from hook and ch across. Do not turn - put 1 sc in end andthen sc on underside until you reach the end. Do not turn - put 1 sc inend. In next sc, hdc (half double crochet) around piece until finished size is reached. This will look like a long tube as it gets larger. When it is approx. 27" long, scthe open end shut. Whenever joining yarn, please leave long strands of yarnto weave back in so the animals can't get your cozie undone when they "nest"in their beds! I leave 5"-6" and backstitch after each stitch forward.Notes:The beginning chain may be too long for some people - I tend to crochet tootightly, but the 44 chains work for me. You may have to experiment to getthe right length. Also you will go through quite a bit of yarn because thiscozy is thick for warmth. I have also made quite a few of these for friendsto be used for "boot mats" - you can make them any size and they really soakup the snow.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. We sure did. Nothing like loafing around all weekend. I'm finally starting to sleep more during the day. Mommy was wondering if I'd be a rowdy puppy forever! I still sleep in my crate because Mommy's still worried that I'll get into something during the night and hurt myself But she thinks I'm getting much better about not getting into things. She's going to start working on letting me sleep in the bedroom with them. On my own bed! She says that her and Daddy are both bed hogs and it'd be a dangerous battlefield for me to join in!

Does anyone here crochet? Or sew? Mommy's looking for easy crochet/sewing projects for me. Like blankets, sweaters, booties, etc. Mommy found a cute free pattern at Wal~Mart for a fleece jacket for dogs, but she doesn't think it looks like it'd stay on very well. Has anyone else tried this patter? If you have please let us know about it. Mommy likes to crochet, she's not very advanced, but she still enjoys doing it. So the pattern would have to be an easy one. Please. She's really good at sewing though. It's just a hassle for her because she doesn't keep the sewing machine set up all the time. So she has to drag it out everytime she needs it. She wants to urn our basement into a craft room, but Daddy says that we need to get a de-humidifier first. Whatever that is.

24 days Until My 1st Birthday! Yippee! I wonder what kind of presents I'll get? I can't wait!

Mommy hasn't been feeling well, so I'm going to ask everyone to keep her on your mind. She's going to call the doctor on Monday to make an appointment. (It's girl problems, or she'd tell ya what's going on.) Her friends say she should have been to the doctor a month ago. But the important thing is that she's finally going. So please keep her in your thoughts.

Everything is mine if I say it is!

I have found a new "toy". This is one of mommy's Wal~Mart impulse buys. It's a pink pillow that is squishy. It is full of little bean bag type balls. Mommy didn't even use the pillow anymore so she let me play with it today. Knowing that'd I'd tear through it in a matter of hours. I didn't make a mess, but Mommy noticed a small hole in it during the "editing" of these pictures, and now the pillow is in the trash. She didn't want me to swallow those little styrafoam balls or get them all over the house. Humph. If only I could resist the impulse to completely destroy every toy I get. Then they'd last longer.

Mommy LOVES this picture! Look at how long/big my tongue looks! My eyes aren't overly flattering in this picture though.
Am I a Pug? Or an English Bulldog? Mommy can't get over how much I look like a bulldog in this picture. Maybe it's the mouth.
Well, we haven't heard anything new today about the "ebay" pugs. Hopefully the people we've been in contact with are busy going and picking up the pugs today, and that's why we haven't heard any news.

So what'd ya think about that "greenies" stuff? Kinda yucky huh? We haven't done much today, just loafed around. I played outside alot though 'cause it was in the mid 70's here all day. Beautiful. Mommy's mad though. She says, "It's November! It should be colder than this!". She likes cold weather. I've never experienced snow before, and she's anxious to see how I act. She's trying to find me some boots for my feet. That way they don't get cold in the snow. She found a really nice coat on ebay, but she doesn't know if she's going to buy it for me or not.

There's no news today. Not much going on in the news "dog" wise.

Mommy is still finding info out on the "ebay pugs". She said that she will be keeping everyone posted. Mommy and the "burger" girls' mommy have been busy trying to get those pugs to a good home. The midwest Pug support group has contacted the "ebay man" but I believe he turned them down. (Not enough money...I think is the deal) Anyways, keep your fingers crossed that those fellow pugs find a home that will properly care for them.

On another note...mommy created a Yahoo Group! The URL for it is over to the left under "links" it says "Our Yahoo Group" Go check it out. Mommy couldn't find a Pug group in our area so she created a Yahoo Group and hopefully we'll be able to meet some fellow Pug People in our area.

One of our readers and new friend, (burger girls' mommy) told us about a controversy with "Greenies" the dog chew treat! You'll have to go check out the information on that. It's interesting. I hadn't even heard about that! Doesn't affect me much. I don't like them! But I LOVE Jumbones!!! Gotta have Jumbones around!!!

If there's any of you that live close to there or would be interested in getting this beautiful girl and her pup...please please do so. If one of you could get her, it'd be best. That way the pug rescue won't have to pay for the care for this pug until she gets adopted. Please please please...anyone that is interested, please contact the seller. That pug doesn't need to be with those owners anymore! They need to be with someone who will love them for who they are...not just because they could make them some money. I don't even understand how they have the listing on ebay. Ebay policy is against selling live animals.

Look at the aweful living conditions of that pug! The poor baby. It breaks my heart!!!

Mr Pug as the Jedi Master made me laugh so hard I almost wet myself! That is absolutely adorable! The funny thing is...I almost named Pugley-"Yoda"! I think Pug's look so much like Yoda, it cracks me up! I never thought of putting them in a Yoda costume. I love it! Mr Pug...you won the Grand Prize!

OOHHH! I love Contests!!!

Did everyone have a Happy Halloween? We did. I got to go Trick or Treating with my human brother. We walked around our neighborhood. (I was on a leash of course) It was a lot of fun. I got to go on two walks in one day!!! Then we got into the car to go to our friends house and trick or treat them. I didn't do so good then. Mommy forgot that it had been months and months since I last rode in the car. I freaked out! Mommy was really sad for me. But once we got to our friends house, I settled down. I even went to sleep on Mommy's lap. Then our friend brought their little doggy out to meet us. She's a Scotty. She's in heat...so we didn't get to play together. All in all, we had a Pug-Rific Halloween. I hope everyone else had a fun and safe Halloween. Here's pictures of me in my costume...

I was a China Man. Mommy already had Oriental fabric, so she decided to make me a little cape. I was going to be an angel, but we lost the costume she bought last year after Halloween. Oh well. I think the China Man outfit turned out well.

New Clothes!

Mommy found my human brother's old GAP sweatshirt this weekend. So she altered it for me. This way I'll keep nice and warm when we go on walks in the mornings.

However, notice that I'm sitting on the air vent (I still go there when I get hot, even though it's not blowing cold air anymore). Mommy took the sweats off of me once we were finished with the photo shoot.
Come on Mommy...enough already!!!

Mommy has taken to buying baby clothing for me, then altering them. It's cheaper than buying expensive dog clothing. Luckily she's fairly handy with the sewing machine. She said I'm about a 3-6 Month Old size in infants. That's what my shirt is...but my shorts are 0-3 Month. She made a hole for my tail to come through.

Hey everybody! Mommy's busy making my Halloween costume, so there's not any cute pictures of me today. However, there is a few pics of our favorite famous pugs! These are the only celebrity pets we're completely obsessed with. Any pugs of course...and Paris. She's always entertaining. A Few Puggies Needs Your Help

This is 4 month old Bella...and she is in need of some financial donations. She was born in a cage in a puppy mill and has lived in her cage since her birth. She was not properly cared for and has developed a very resistent phnemonia. She is currently hospitalized and has been for over a week now. The Little Angels Pug Rescue www.lapr.org is taking donations to help fund her hospitalization and treatments.

Yesterday she was struck with Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis and is very ill right now. She's at the vet right now, and we're all praying for her speedy recovery. She must have a whole battery of tests, however, including an ultrasound, to make sure her condition isn't connected with her liver.

Oh Paris...you never cease to amaze us! Wouldn't it be funny if that thing bit her on the lip! No...I apologize for that, it wasn't very nice. I just can't imagine kissing a rodent, ew! Besides, I adore Paris...I really wouldn't want her to get hurt.

My Girlfriend Sophie

This is my girlfriend Sophie. She lives next door. She's a pure blooded dauchand. I adore her! So does Mommy. Mommy was going to take pictures of the two of us together...but Mommy and Sophie's Mommy were worried that we'd do things we shouldn't.

Here she is trying to get to me though the fence!
We like to run and chase each other beside the fence.
Mommy was trying to get a picture of Sophie and I jumped in the middle. I'm such a camera hog!Here's Sophie and I kissing. We kiss each other through the fence a lot. Mommy laughs because Sophie's tongue is so fast! I think all dauchsand tongues are fast like that!

There's not a ton of news today...the website that I get all my pet news from is down due to Hurricane Wilma. So here's what I was able to come up with.

Mommy & my human brother caught me with a potato. I snuck it out of the pantry when no one was looking.

Mommy let me keep it long enough to take a picture or two. She thought it was funny. But she took the potato away after the photoshoot. ::Pout::

I haven't forgotten about ya!

Hi Guys! Mommy and I haven't forgotten about ya! She is very very sorry. She's still learning to delegate her time. The new position at work has her very very busy. But she LOVES doing this blog. She says it keeps her sane. Whatever that means. Tomorrow (Saturday) she will post lots and lots of pictures of me. She said that I might have a play date with the girl dauchsand tomorrow. You'll like her she's really really pretty. Mommy's worried that I'll try to do things to her that I shouldn't. I haven't been fixed yet. I'm not allowed to roam by myself outside anyway. We'll see how the day goes. But Mommy said she really wants pictures of us together. So today...you get to see Mommy's favorite pictures from the Petsmart pet costume contest. Maybe it'll give you inspiration for our pet costume contest?!? There were 31 pics to vote on at Petsmart. But these are just a few that were mommy's favorite...

I had a complete posting done with pictures and current events! UGH...then I hit refresh on accident and it deleted it all!!! So now you have to wait until I get home from work to do it again.
